Visit to the Wrights

With the 4th falling on a Wednesday and James having Fridays off in the summer, we decided to take a mini-vacation down to Atlantic Beach to visit Ashley, Andy and Jackson.  We haven't visited since last summer so I was excited to see how Charlie and Jackson would interact now as big boys.  They were fast friends and we all had a great few days.

On the fourth we went to a beach club to see Andy's band play then made a feast back at the house and watched fireworks in the front yard.

A pool, and a beach and music!

They next day we took their boat over to an island where we anchored up and played all day.

Parked at the beach

There were wild horses there.  Very cool.

Trying to get them to pose near the boat dock.

Leaving dinner.

The day before we left we visited the Aquarium there and went to see the Band of Oz before having a night out.

I walked into our room and found them reading to each other. Melt.

Finally! A baseball glove.

So Charlie is "a little" into baseball.  He has multiple bats and balls and loves hitting, throwing and chasing but until this week he didn't have a glove.  This was not for lack of us offering.  Even though his hand is small we've found a few little ones at stores and have offered to buy them.  He initially acts excited but then upon trying any on he gets really frustrated that they are either too tight or too big.  We've even brought home one or two cheapo ones but the same thing happened with those.  Still every time at Target we go down that aisle and have the same conversation.... me asking if he is ready to try on a big boy glove and him telling me he isn't big enough yet and that none will fit.  This week he in the aisle to my delight he told me he was ready and promptly put on the littlest one.  We've played with it now many days and it seems to still be perfect.  Such a big boy!

Grandma and Grandpa Were Here

They stayed a fun few hot, hot, hot days.  We had lots of fun!  As part of their house clearing they brought up some of my old thing to add to our basement instead of theirs.  Included was...

A Barbie Doll

A fun activity book my mom made when I was little.  Here he is matching shapes...

...and putting things in train cars.

With Montgomery the cat

We also broke out the little pool in our front yard.  This is how city kids stay cool in the summer :)

Summertime Fun

Some of Charlie's latest faves...

It is all about race cars these days.  Mostly vrooming them and lining them up in parking spaces...

Whew this is hard work

Puzzles!  He can sit and do them for hours.  I walked away and found this when I came back.  It is a fire truck, police car and dump truck laying exactly over the ones on the puzzle.  Weird.

Fire trucks!  Anytime we here there is one showing up at a community event, we are there.

Baseball, baseball, baseball!  Here he is fielding balls with my glove.

Imitating Dad.  Getting ready for a run below with James' running watch and headphones.

Pulling his own wagon.  Wow, is there anything more big-boy than this?!?
